Borderers are being asked to check on vulnerable members of the community with the current cold weather expected to continue.
Experts at the Met Office predict very cold and icy conditions for the remainder of the month.
The forecast has led Scottish Borders Council to request for people to check on neighbours who may be at risk due to the freezing temperatures.
SBC chief executive Tracey Logan said: “No-one would have predicted we would be seeing such wintry conditions just a couple of days into spring. We need to ensure those people most at risk due to this prolonged period of cold weather are safe.
“We are making a plea to our residents to not forget about those members of our communities who may struggle with simple things such as getting to a shop or putting out their bin. A simple phone-call or knock at the door could make all the difference.”
Advice includes identifying neighbours and family members who may need a helping hand and offer to help with tasks such as shopping and clearing snow and ice from pathways.
