CREATIVE youngsters at Tweedbank had a chance to shine in the run-up to the festive season – they came up with inventions and pitched them to a Dragon’s Den.

Walkerburn’s Ross Dickinson, inventor of the Kibosh temporary water pipe repair, Borders Physiotherapy’s Dan Pulman and shopkeeper and janitor Ewan Docherty judged the innovative ideas from the senior pupils.

And P5/6’s Cherise Anderson and Lauryn Stewart scooped the top prize with their medicine dispenser. The runner-up was an allergy scanner called the Self-Saver.

The school’s Chris McKeesick said: “The children really enjoyed the experience and taking part in Dragon’s Den. The Dragons were very impressed and said it was a difficult judging task.”

The classes had been learning about Victorians and included in their study the inventions of the era.
