MOBILE speed cameras are currently in operation at the following locations within the Borders: A7 at Heriot and Stow; A68 Soutra; A701 Cowdenburn and Romanno Bridge; A702 Dolphinton; A703 Edinburgh Road, Peebles, and Leadburn.
From Monday the cameras will be located on the A1 at Cockburnspath and Penmanshiel; A68 Soutra and Lauderhaugh; A6105 Gordon and Chirnside; A701 Romanno Bridge and Mountain Cross; and the A703 at Leadburn.
From Monday, January 9, the locations in the Borders will be: A1 at Penmanshsiel and Heughhead; A7 Stow and Galashiels; A68 Soutra and Glengelt; A701 Cowdenburn, Broughton, Mountain Cross and Rommano Bridge; A702 Dolphinton; A703 north of Peebles and Leadburn; A6105 Gordon and the B6374 at Langlee, Galashiels.
Existing sites for cameras as well as potential locations are assessed each year and they are based on guidelines from the Scottish Safety Camera Programme and include accident numbers, casualty figures, the length of the site and documentation from previous speed surveys.
