Nineteen blushing brides and 52 wedding dressings enthralled a packed St Peter’s Church in Galashiels.
Many members of the audience dressed up in their wedding best.
The fundraising event, organised by the Inner Wheel Club of Galashiels, showcased wedding dresses and wedding paraphernalia from over a 90-year period and was displayed on static and living models.
Inner Wheel is 90 years old and each district was challenged to raise funds with the theme of “Wheels”.
Borders wheelchair athlete Samantha Kinghorn, who has achieved six Scottish records in the T53 class, is a member Scotland’s Commonwealth Games squad – so the wheels local members decided to raise money for were hers.
The catwalk show was completed by a bridal walk-through, accompanied by local piper Peter Wade, followed by wedding songs sung by Susan Boorman. The afternoon was finished off with refreshments and a raffle – thanks to donations from local businesses.
Club president Rosemary McCosh said: “The committee were overwhelmed by the generosity of contributors, for trusting us with their precious wedding memories, and the number of volunteer brides, who did a great job with very little practice.”
The Inner Wheel Club of Galashiels held its birthday dinner on last week and as member Violet Romanis is district chairman this year, a pre-rally dinner for guests was held in the town on Tuesday.
