A senior police officer has admitted there has been a big rise in the thefts of quad bikes from rural locations.

It follows the theft of a red Honda motorcycle worth around £3,000 from a shed at Flemington Farm near West Linton sometime between 5.30pm on April 19 and 7am on April 20.

Chief Inspector Kenny Simpson said: “There have been a significant increase in the theft of quad bikes from rural locations since the turn of the year, and sadly this is another such incident.

“Farm owners are reminded to make sure all vehicles are securely locked away when not in use, and members of the public are urged to get in touch with any details that may assist our investigations.”

Anyone with information can contact Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
