Fourth generation West Lothian farmer Andrew McNee, wife Lorna and their three children visited London last week – and took along their sale-topping 20-month-old Luing bull, Benhar Piper, to promote Scotch Beef and highlight 2014 being International Year of Family Farming.
The well-travelled bovine will make his way to Harehead, near Duns, to join Prof W.A. Penny’s 150-strong herd of purebreed Luing cows after being knocked down to farm manager Neil Anderson for 6,000 guineas at the recent Luing sale at Castle Douglas. Neil said: “We need some new bloodlines and thought he would suit our cows.”
