BORDERERS are being asked to enjoy a brew in aid of Fairtrade Fortnight, which runs from Monday to March 11.
A Big Brew coffee morning is being held in Melrose Corn Exchange on Saturday, March 3, from 10am to noon as part of a national initiative by Traidcraft, the UK’s leading fair trade organisation. Fairtrade crafts and foods will be available to buy as well as a Fairtrade cup of tea or coffee and Fairtrade cookies.
The group’s Jenni Young of Melrose says: “This event is a great opportunity to increase awareness of Fairtrade and of the issues faced by producers in the developing world.
“By serving Fairtrade tea and coffee and raising funds for Traidcraft, we are helping to make a difference to the lives of producers across the world.”
