A 23-year-old Galashiels man has had sentence deferred until August 20 after he admitted taking a mobile phone from a party while on an ASBO.
Using a GPS tracking device, the phone was traced to Daniel Stewart’s home at High Tweed Mill in King Street, Galashiels.
Stewart claimed he had borrowed the use of the woman’s phone at the party in Mossilee Road on May 10, but had mistakenly kept it in his pocket when asked to leave by the householder.
It was discovered Stewart was outwith his home curfew when asked to leave the house party at 11.15pm.
He also pleaded guilty at Selkirk Sheriff Court to breaching a court order and admitted smashing a window at a Scottish Borders Housing Association property in Church Square, Galashiels on March 31, at a cost of £200, following an argument with another man.
Defending, solicitor Mat Patrick said Stewart had planned to move to Eyemouth, but had lost the tenancy after being remanded in custody at his last court hearing.
To allow a Criminal Justice Social Work Report to be made, Stewart was granted bail to his grandmother’s home in Oakwood Park, Galashiels.
