A MOTHERWELL man will appear in court today charged with theft from two properties in Selkirk, including the town’s Roman Catholic church.
The 34-year-old is alleged to have broken into Our Lady and St Joseph’s RC Church at 2pm yesterday and taken a collection box.
And at 3.15pm a home in Mavis Bank was also entered and items stolen.
At 4.30pm, police received reports of a man acting strangely in the town, and the alleged culprit was arrested after being found with items from both targeted properties.
He was later charged with theft by housebreaking and theft by slip-in.
