AN appeal by a Hawick man for medical supplies to be sent to troubled Syria now involves a local store.

Members of the public can buy blankets, duvets, sleeping bags and tents at The Original Factory Shop on Victoria Road, with the items left at the shop for local supporters of Hand in Hand for Syria to send on to the Middle Eastern country.

Basic medicine is still needed and can be bought at TN Crosby chemists in Bridge Street.

TheSouthern previously reported on ME sufferer Peter Dinan’s appeal for items to help Syrians who have been forced to leave their homes in the country’s civil war.

Peter said: “Eight boxes left Hawick for London last Tuesday to go by convoy to Syria on Sunday.

“Included were basic painkillers, blood pressure monitors, bandages, dressings, baby food, nappies, warm children’s boots and gloves.”
