A GALASHIELS car vandal who turned up late for a meeting with social workers for background reports to be prepared has been warned he is putting his liberty at stake.
Daniel Stewart, 22, of King Street, went on a vandalism spree, targeting vehicles parked in Gala Park, Roxburgh Place, Union Street and Central Garage, Galashiels, during September 14 and 15, causing more than £600 worth of damage.
He also stole £80 worth of items from an unsecured car in Windyknowe Road, Galashiels, for which there was full recovery.
Stewart was due to be sentenced, only for Sheriff Mhairi McTaggart to be told reports were unavailable as he had been an hour late for his scheduled meeting for a criminal justice social work report to be prepared.
Sentence was further deferred until January 14 and Sheriff McTaggart told Stewart his bail would be withdrawn if he caused any more delays.
Sentence was also deferred until the same date on Stewart’s co-accused – Gregor Cranston, 18, of Glenfield Road East, Galashiels – who pleaded guilty to stealing £500 worth of items from an unsecured vehicle in Torwoodlee Road, Galashiels, for which there was no recovery.
