A SPECIALIST cereals organisation is hoping to boost breakfast eating with the return of the Farmhouse Breakfast Week later this month.

Farmers are being encouraged to hold open days by the HGCA, the cereals and oilseeds arm of the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board.

A spokesperson for the annual week explains online: “The aim of the campaign is to raise awareness of the benefits of eating a healthy breakfast and demonstrate the variety of breakfast foods available in the UK.

“All stages of the food chain, from farmers to food producers and retailers to consumers are being encouraged to hold events to promote the importance of starting the day with breakfast and to celebrate the wealth of breakfast produce available around the country.”

No Borders participants have signed up yet for the 13th Farmhouse Breakfast Week, January 22-28.

Organisers say the UK cereal market is worth £1.55billion. One in four adults skip breakfast during the week, and one in six never eat it.

Nearly half of British adults eat the same breakfast every day. And it takes just over five minutes to prepare weekday breakfasts and just over eight to eat. For more information see www.shakeupyourwakeup.com
