A MAN who attacked his former partner told police and court officials that he would jump into his car and kill himself if he was freed on bail.
Sheriff Donald Corke took Evander MacRae’s threat seriously and remanded him custody prior to sentencing on January 16. MacRae, 44, of Montrose Place, appeared from custody at Jedburgh on Wednesday and admitted repeatedly trying to strike his ex on the head and body, and causing her to fall against a bath at her home in West Port around 5am the previous day.
He also admitted threatening and abusive behaviour, and damaging the house. Sheriff Corke ordered a psychiatric report and said he was jailing MacRae for his own safety.
