BORDER LIVESTOCK EXCHANGE
Border Livestock Exchange Ltd to week ending Friday July 25 sold 152 prime cattle including 41 cast cows; 2,011 prime sheep including 319 cast ewes and 82 store and breeding cattle.
Aberdeen Angus Cross Heifers from Fenwick Steads, Belford sold to 380p per kg to Well Hung and Tender, Berwick upon Tweed. Scottish Continental Cross Heifers sold to 357p per kg and £1,224 per head from Sharplaw Farms, Hownam.
Belgian Blue Young Bulls also from Sharplaw sold to 350p per kg and £1,202 per head. Cow prices also started to firm with pure Limousin Cows reaching 300p per kg from Bowsden Moor, Berwick upon Tweed.
Lamb prices were slightly easier with the trade weaker towards the weekend. Wonderful Texel Cross lambs from Lochside Farm and Primside Farm, Yetholm sold to 410p per kg. Ewe lambs sold to 400p per kg for crosses weighing 20-30kg live weight. Store cattle were also dearer with yearling Limousin Cross Steers from Loch Mabon selling to £1,100 per head.
WOOLER
At their weekly sale of primestock, John Swan Limited had forward and sold 1681 lambs and 114 ewes.
The topsy-turvy lamb trade continued with a downward spiral week seeing all classes easier as nationwide.

LONGTOWN
The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart plc had forward 18 prime cattle, 0 young bulls, 16 over 30-month cattle, 3,223 prime lambs and 5,331 cast ewes and rams at their weekly sale at Longtown on Thursday July 24.
A small show of prime cattle due to the weather with averages less on the week but a poorer offering of quality which led to the dip in price.
The sale topped at 211.5p for a Limousin bullock shown by D.J. Garthwaite & Son, Wyseby Hill Cottage.
