Road repairs in Hawick and Langholm will see the A7 shut between Canonbie and Hawick closed to traffic over four nights from Monday, August 4.
The trunk road will be closed between 8pm and 6am with both north and southbound traffic diverted to the B6357, A6088 and the A698, adding around 30 minutes to journey times.
The First Bus X95 and 95 will operate on its normal route and will be escorted though the roadworks, adding up to 10 minutes to the travelling time.
On Monday, work takes place on Langholm High Street and Highmill Bridge, about a mile north of the town. Essential local traffic to repair works will be maintained but through traffic prohibited.
Between Tuesday, August 5 and Thursday, August 7 work takes place between the Sandbed roundabout and Dovemount roundabout in Hawick. Local access up to these areas will be maintained but through traffic prohibited.
Ian Stewart of road managers BEAR Scotland commented: “These works are being carried out overnight, when traffic volumes are reduced, to minimise delays to motorists.
“We would encourage motorists to plan their journey times in advance where possible.”
BEAR says the works have been planned in consultation with Police Scotland and both the Borders and Dumfries and Galloway councils.
