Inspired by the Countryside Day held at Springwood Park, Kelso, earlier this summer, these Tweedbank youngsters met the challenge to design and create their own scarecrow creations.

Characters ranged from Chloe Hope’s tiny baby to Tiana Palepoi’s towering cowboy character, from Brandan Kirk and Jardine Thomson’s cheeky wee boys to Jade Allan and Millie Simon’s female creations, and from Erin Stoddart’s “You wouldn’t want to meet him on a dark Night” Larry to Callum Gray’s football legend, “Gressi”.

The pupils chose to showcase their scarecrows in the newly-revamped school courtyard – given a facelift by the school’s eco-team, assisted by pupils and teachers from all classes, as well as the janitor and helpers from the community. The courtyard is furnished with outdoor cushions and plants donated by Tesco and Lowood Nursery respectively.
