Borderers are being encourage to take part in a sponsored walk in Melrose in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care.
The ’Roaming in the Gloaming’ is leaving at 7pm on Friday, July 18 from Gibson Park and has been organised by the local fundraising group.
Anyone can take part and enjoy the stroll at their own pace in the company of fellow walkers along a six mile route which organisers have selected for the peace and quiet and wonderful views of Melrose.
A short walk of just over a mile is available for families or those less able to walk, and is also wheelchair and buggy friendly. There will be a drink and comfort stop available in Newstead and light refreshments will be available when walkers return to Gibson Park.
Brenda Robertson from the Melrose Fundraising Group said: “Hopefully this will be the first of many such walks for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
“You don’t have to be a super fit walker to take part, everyone is welcome and all the money raised will help our local Marie Curie Nurses provide more hours of free nursing care for people with terminal illnesses.”
Advanced registration is £10 per individual or £20 per household or family, with the promise to raise sponsorship. Contact 01573 224440 for more details.
