An inspector has praised St Boswells Primary School for its “caring and supportive ethos” and “very well behaved children”.

The HM Inspectorate of Education report also recognises the pupils’ high level of involvement in their learning but has called for the curriculum to be more challenging.

The inspector has also commended the headteacher and depute headteacher for their efforts to lead and evaluate school improvements.

Headteacher Margaret Nailen said: “Overall, I am pleased with the report. It highlights the caring and supportive ethos created by staff which has encouraged our keen and well-behaved pupils to make good progress in their learning.

“The report recognises the commitment of our staff to promoting improvement and achievement.”

She added: “The inspection has enabled us to reflect on what we do well and has provided some clear guidance on how we can continue to improve.

“We will continue to work with parents and partners to ensure our school provides the best possible education for all of our children.”

James Denne, chairman of the school’s parent council, added: “There is much to be pleased about in this report which reflects very well on our school.

“It will encourage teachers and parents alike to continue to strive for what is best for our children.

“A happy school with happy children, parents and teachers is our priority.”
