A Hawick make-up artist is set to pass on her skills as part of a new Borders College course, which starts next Wednesday.
Sarah Miles, 23, recently returned from France where she was make-up artist on her first feature film.
She pitched her idea for the course to Borders College bosses and will now start teaching a Theatrical Make-up evening class at the Hawick campus.
Sarah told The Southern: “Teaching was something I had thought about for the future as a lot of my lecturers had worked in the industry and then decided they wanted to teach others.
“I saw there was an opportunity as there is not a make-up course like this in the Borders, so I thought I would try it and see what happens.”
The course will last five weeks, with a two-hour class every Wednesday, and will feature aspects of special effects, character, period and ageing make-up.
Since completing her HND in make-up artistry at Clydebank College, Sarah has worked on a number of theatre productions, fashion shows and on four British Red Cross short films.
It was the Red Cross work that led Sarah to France to work on her first feature film, as it was being made by one of the crew from the Red Cross productions.
Sarah said: “I really enjoyed it and it was a really good experience.
“Hopefully it will lead to more work like that in the future.”
