The Borders’ furniture recycling charity, Home Basics, is celebrating an award of £61,496 from the Big Lottery.
The new funding will allow the charity to continue to expand its operation at its depots in Walkerburn and Hawick.
This will include the provision of a new van to collect furniture donations and deliver items sold as well as provision of new PAT testing equipment which will enable the charity to accept more white goods which are always in heavy demand.
In Hawick, the new funding will allow the expansion of its retail premises in Hawick at Units 1 & 2 Annfield Mill in Teviot Crescent.
Manager Dennis Fisher commented: “We are absolutely delighted to receive this award. It is a great boost for the charity which has gone from strength to strength in recent years and now has over 30 volunteers.”
