West Linton was celebrating on Saturday after introducing this year’s Whipman Elect and his lass, pictured.
Calum Murray has lived in West Linton his entire life, attending both West Linton Primary School and Peebles High School before moving onto Edinburgh Napier University, where he studies Social Sciences. Calum also works behind the bar in The Gordon Arms.
His Lass Elect is Alison Hardie from Innerleithen. She attended St Ronan’s Primary School where she was selected twice to participate in the local festival – Games Week – as a Sash Girl. Her elder sister Beth was the Standard Bearer’s Lass a few years ago.
Alison attended Peebles High School and is currently in her second year at Strathclyde University studying primary education whilst working in a local nursery in Peebles.
Other principals for this year’s Whipman Play will be Thomas Harris who is this year’s Barony Herald 2014.
Thomas is in Primary 7 at West Linton Primary School but is looking forward to starting at Peebles High School.
This year’s Flower Girl is five-year-old Amy Chapman. She loves horses and is looking forward to being part of the fun, and watching the horses, of course.
And this year’s Presenting Lady is Mrs Nan Thomson.
Nan volunteers in the Red Cross shop and her contribution to the charity is greatly appreciated by the West Linton community.
