Researchers at St Andrews University are seeking Borderers to take part in a project looking at the housing opportunities and financial welfare of people aged 18-35 across the UK.

The project is part of a wider research programme being led by Dundee University and funded by The Leverhulme Trust - Mind the (Housing) Wealth Gap.

Dr Tom Moore from St Andrews University’s Centre for Housing Research said: “The aim is to get a better understanding of the issues that help or hinder young adults’ independent living, and to identify how young people feel they’re faring compared to when their parents were younger.

“Involving online chat room discussions and telephone interviews, this study is a forum for under-35s to share their views and concerns about a range of issues shaping their lives.

“This includes challenges like getting access to housing and home ownership, the growing role played by financial support from family, and sources of financial (in)security.”
