The battle against norovirus which hit the Borders General Hospital appears to be being won.
Ward 9 has re-opened and NHS Borders say just bays remain closed – one each in Wards 10 and 11
An NHS Borders spokesperson said they could report an improving situation at the BGH.
The spokesperson commented: “The situation continues to be managed by our infection control team with support from frontline colleagues.
“As a precautionary measure, visiting continues to be discouraged and the general advice is to stay away from the hospital if you or anyone in your family has experienced symptoms of diarrhoea and/or vomiting in the past 48 hours. This advice applies especially to children.
“We continue to ask friends and family of patients in all wards to limit their visits to no more than two people at any one time.”
Outpatient appointments at the hospital are unaffected.
