Police are appealing for witnesses following a road rage incident near Kelso on Friday, January 24.
The male victim was driving a grey Ford Focus through Newtown St Boswells around 3.30pm when a black Peugeot pulled out in front of him opposite the Royal Bank of Scotland.
The Peugeot then carried out a three-point turn and followed the victim towards the A68.
On reaching a remote section of the B6404 at the Charter House crossroads, the suspect overtook the victim and forced him to stop, got out the car, approached the victim and assaulted him.
The suspect then headed off in his Peugeot towards Kelso.
Chief Inspector Kenny Simpson from Police Scotland said: “Police are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed this incident either in Newtown St Boswells or at Charter House, Kelso.
“Anyone with information is urged to contact their local police station or call 101”
