Selkirk Rotarians have been taking to the hills to save lives and mold futures – for ShelterBoxes and local youth development, which includes the Rotary Youth Music Competition, RotaKids and the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards.
The club had recently committed to purchasing another Shelterbox, but in view of the Philippines disaster, members are now ordering a further box, which cost just under £600 each.
So Rotarians walked the Borders Abbey Way – a distance of 65 miles. The last group to set off was Team Midlem (pictured), comprising Rotarians, friends of Rotary and seven-year-old McKenzie Power. Team Midlem completed its route from Tweedbank to Newton St Boswells via Rhymer’s Stone.
They raised £220 as a part of well over £1,000 realised from the overall event.
