Borders businesses will get some top tips on securing and trading their assets in the UK and overseas at a free Business Gateway event in Selkirk on February 22.

The event, which is being run in conjunction with Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) Scotland and the Intellectual Assets Centre, will help to:

z Identify and secure business assets for trading

z Identify potential markets, innovation and expertise

z Introduce businesses to the marketplace in the UK, Europe and beyond

All of these services are free to established businesses in Scotland.

The workshop will give an insight into how other companies have enhanced their product/service development and entered new markets, and also provide an opportunity to talk about specific issues.

Amongst the many businesses which have already accessed Business Gateway’s free market information is Duns-based, Aqualution.

Over the last year Aqualution has been working with EEN Scotland adviser Jane Watters (through their Business Gateway advisor Sandra Campbell).

EEN Scotland has helped the business to find contacts in the food and drink industry for their novel cleaning products.

“EEN Scotland utilised its international contacts to introduce Aqualution to companies they would not have reached themselves,” said Sandra.

“As a result, they are now supplying the manufacturing facilities worldwide for a major food brand.

“We now want to encourage more established Borders’ companies to use these services to build their businesses.”

Following the workshop, which takes place from 11.30am to 1pm at Business Gateway, Ettrick Riverside, Selkirk, there will be an opportunity to book a follow-up discussion with specialist advisors.
