AN INSPECTOR has praised staff at Langlee Primary School for creating a “calm, purposeful ethos” following a recent visit.

Dr Kate Hannah of HM Inspectorate of Education reported that the majority of children were settled and happy, showed pride in their school and respect for one another.

Dr Hannah also commented in her report on the quality of the school’s additional support for children.

A small number of areas for improvement have been agreed with the council and school, including ensuring the curriculum is broad enough and challenging in all areas.

Headteacher Sandra Davidson said: “Overall I am very pleased with the report. I am delighted that the inspectors have acknowledged the wonderful pupils we have at Langlee who are respectful and take a real pride in their school.

“We cater for children with a wide range of needs and over the last few years staff have worked very hard with parents and partner agencies to meet the needs of all our pupils. It is therefore very encouraging that this work has been recognised as a key strength of the school.”

Lisa Smith, chair of the parent council, added: “This report is a real representation of the dedication and pride that both the pupils and staff have instilled within themselves.”
