PUPILS from 17 different Borders schools have been in last- minute rehearsals this week ahead of a live performance on BBC Children in Need tomorrow (Friday).
The 130 students make up the entirety of the Scottish Children in Need choir and will join several other children’s choirs up and down the UK on the live appeal show in a rendition of Gary Barlow’s song, Sing, which will be led by the Take That frontman himself.
The Scottish choir will also perform Emeli Sande’s song Wonder, when they will be joined by four young cast members from the BBC drama Waterloo Road.
On Sunday the actors joined the pupils for rehearsals in Hawick.
Their performance will be shown in a special Scottish highlights show on Saturday evening.
Councillor Graham Garvie, convener of Scottish Borders Council and children and young people’s champion, said: “It is always a joy to share good news about our young people, and to see our pupils and school staff selflessly giving their time to a really important cause is particularly pleasing.
“I’m sure our children and young people are hugely excited to be taking part in a live television broadcast and I hope as many Borderers as possible lend their support on the night.”
BBC Children in Need supports more than 2,600 projects all over the UK.
The live appeal show will be broadcast on BBC 1 from 7.30pm on Friday, with the highlights on BBC 2.
