SELKIRK Vintage Rally takes place on Sunday after a year’s absence.
It is hoped success this year will help secure the immediate future of the event, which was first run in 1993.
Gordon Edgar, chairman of the organising committee, said more than 1,100 entries had been received, which he described as a “healthy number”.
He added: “We have tried to make it a real family event this year, so we have got a fairground and lots of craft stalls. We hope it will be a family day rather than just one for the car enthusiasts.”
Despite last-minute bad weather, the 2011 event went ahead, but the field at Sunderland Hall, near Lindean, failed to recover due to a wet year last year, and the 2012 event was cancelled.
However, Mr Edgar said the committee had invested heavily in improving the facilities and welcomed the fact that parking on the north side of the Tweed will be available, with pedestrian access over the old Tweed Bridge.
In addition to the vintage vehicles, there will be an auto-jumble, craft stalls, bar, pipe band, fairground, quad bikes, children’s tug of war with a steam engine, treasure hunt and lots more.
“We are hoping it is going to be a really good year,” said Mr Edgar.
