Police are seeking information after DIY store B&Q in Galashiels was targeted three times in the less than two weeks.

Six bags of decorative stone chips were stolen overnight between Saturday, August 31 and Sunday, September 1.

A second break-in happened on Tuesday at 11.55pm, although nothing was taken but a similar incident this morning at around 4.15pm saw a further 10 bags of decorative chips removed from inside.

Officers believe these crimes are linked and are asking anyone who can assist with their enquiries to come forward.

PC Philip Moule said: “This is an extremely unusual series of break-ins that has resulted only in decorative stone chips being taken, while other, more expensive items, have been left untouched.

“Anyone who remembers seeing any suspicious activity in or around the B&Q store over the past couple of weeks is asked to contact police immediately.

“We are also keen to hear from anyone who is having gardening work carried out on their property, or knows of someone who is and believes stone chips such as these are being used.”

Anyone with information can contact Police Scotland on 101 or alternatively, the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
