Conor Maynard, Amy MacDonald, and Little Mix were among the top acts to entertain more than 130 Girlguides from Galashiels, Tweedbank, Selkirk, West Linton and St Boswells, who joined 6,000 music fans from across Scotland at the Clyde Auditorium (the Armadillo) in Glasgow last Saturday for Girlguiding Scotland’s Tartan Gig 2013.
The event, which was hosted by Scottish comedian Iain Stirling, is just one of many great opportunities available to girls from Tweed Valley through guiding.
One Girlguide, Anya, 11, said: “It was better than I expected because I’d never been to a concert with just the Guides. I liked that the music was booming loud and the flashing bunny ear lights that people were wearing were cool.”
The County Commissioner added: “All the girls had such a brilliant time in Glasgow and the atmosphere was just amazing. For many of the girls it was a great adventure as this was the first time they have been to a live gig on this scale.”
