Exhibitors and visitors enjoyed a “very successful” Holm Show at Harrison & Hetherington’s auction mart at Newcastleton on Saturday, after last year’s cancellation.
Newcastleton’s Gordon Jackson of Blackburn won the overall sheep championship with a Blackface gimmer on her first outing.
Despite taking the Blackface championship a few times, Saturday was the first time he won the top ticket in nearly 30 years of attending the show.
“I was quite ecstatic. There was a tremendous line-up for the overall, ” he said.
Bewcastle’s John Nicholson was reserve with a Greyface ewe lamb.
And Craig Weir, Mainside, Hownam won the Cheviots, while Andrew Warden took the Shepherd’s Cup.
Secretary Sandra Hope said: “We had a very successful show. The gate was well up and the weather was kind to us, we had a perfect day.”
