Denholm cyclist Beccy Roberts has less than 500 miles to go to finish her ride around Britain to raise awareness of Motor Neurone Disease.

The 35-year-old advertising executive, who now lives in Buckinghamshire, biked around 90 miles through the Borders accompanied by 17 friends and supporters on Sunday, despite coming off her bike and hurting her shoulder the day before.

She said: “I love cycling in the Borders anyway but on Sunday it was extra special. It was a hugely enjoyable day. Some riders joined just for a few miles, some joined me for the whole leg. It was a great bunch of people, both friends and people who I had never met before. But everyone was there for the same reason.

Asked about the rest of the ride, she said: “I’m in quite a lot of pain from my shoulder, which is going to make things a little uncomfortable, but apart from that I’m hoping it should be pretty smooth-going down the east coast.”

Beccy is biking the 2,500 miles in memory of her mother, Ellie, who died from MND last year.
