The Church of Scotland congregations of the Melrose and Peebles presbytery are sending a container of second-hand goods to their twinned counterparts in Zomba, southern Malawi.
The items they are collecting are: spiritual literature, office equipment, musical instruments, woodworking tools, knitting needles, wool for knitting, sets of football/netball strips, bicycles, garden tools, school textbooks and sewing machines (not electric).
Items can be taken to Walkerburn Church (Galashiels Road) which will be open every Saturday this month from 10am-1pm. Anyone who cannot manage that should speak to their local Church of Scotland congregation who may be able to assist.
Cash donations can be made instead to help cover container costs. These should be given to the contributor’s local Church of Scotland, marked Melrose and Peebles presbytery Zomba container, or sent to Paul Faris at 1 Millwell Park, Innerleithen EH44 6RB (cheques payable to Melrose and Peebles Presbytery).
