The second fundraising Tour de Lauder (TdL) next month was booked up within nine days of opening earlier this year.
Friends organised last year’s first ride in memory of Lauder dad, ultra-marathoner and policeman Steve Cully, raising £17,000 for Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland (CHSS) when 90 pedallers completed 50 and 86-mile rides.
The routes on April 20 will remain the same for the 250 cyclists who have signed up. They will bike from Thirlestane Castle, Lauder, to Innerleithen, where the 86-milers peel off to go to the Yarrow and Ettrick Valleys, on to Heriot and back via Stow, with home-baking stops provided by the Lauder community. New this year will be a children’s mini tour.
One of the organisers, Carol Cooke said: “We’re confident last year’s total will be smashed and provide a significant boost to the Steve Cully Tribute Fund set up by Steve’s family and friends. So far it has contributed over £30,000 to CHSS.”
