Jedburgh Community Council is seeking to erect outdoor gym equipment on two areas of ground next to the town’s Riverside Walk.
The idea is the brainchild of community councillor Kevin Hill, who has submitted the council’s planning application to Scottish Borders Council.
Wooden keep-fit equipment was installed along the top section of Riverside Walk in 1977 to mark the Queen’s silver jubilee.
The community council’s website states: “The facility was very popular for a number of years, but the wooden installations gradually fell into disrepair and were removed.”
It is estimated that the cost to erect around nine pieces of equipment would be £15,000, however, the council states grant funding is available, and if permission is granted, then the green gym could be up and running this year.
It would be maintained by the equipment suppliers.
