Developers intend to resubmit plans for the creation of a eco-holiday park at Craik, which could provide up to 40 jobs.

Planning approval was granted for the creation of 52 lodges in 2007, despite some local objections, but this approval has since lapsed.

Stow-based developer Ecofitter is now carrying out public consultation to try to improve the previously approved plans ahead of a resubmission .

Iver Salvesen, partner at Ecofitter and director of site owners Woodland Asset Management, said that two public consultation events had taken place with some objections being voiced. However, he added that there had been significant support from businesses in the area for the development.

Mr Salvesen said: “The point of the public consultation is to look for areas that can be improved in the consented application and find where there are things we have in common with the local development trust.”

Plans for housing and micro-businesses in the village are also being re-examined.
