Borderers gave us a huge thumbs-up today as they queued up to buy the redesigned Southern.
In a bold move, Tweeddale relaunched its flagship broadsheet title in compact format and already it’s proving a hit with readers.
Our teams were out and about in Hawick and Galashiels today, asking you what you thought of the new compact format, and the overwhelming response was, ‘We love it!’
Out and about with the team was Tweeddale MD Stephen Plews.
He said: “I had a long chat with one reader, who loved the changes ... in fact, when we parted she slapped me round the head with the paper. I think it was a sign of approval!”
Lots of you got in contact with us via email, phone, Facebook and Twitter to tell us how much you liked the new format.
A few of the comments on Facebook included Eunice Piercy who said: “I LOVE IT!!!”; Lisa Richardson, “It’s Fab!!” , Lynn Devlin: “just finished reading the “new look” paper and what a difference, so much easier to read and handle, should have been done a long time ago... much better. and and Fiona Gill, who said: “ i got a huge shock when i bought mine this morning, i had to actually double take it but i think it looks great, and i have to admit i walked into a sign as i could actually read it walking back to mine”
And many of you chatted to our staff at a number of venues across the region.
Sonya Linton, one of our senior advertising reps, was in Asda in Galashiels today, chatting to customers and advertisers. She said: “ We didn’t have one negative comment. People were queuing to buy their Southern. One customer had stopped buying the paper because he couldn’t read it in his van. He told me, he loved the compact format and would now be buying it every week.”
We are delighted you love the changes we made. And keep your comments coming.
Next week don’t miss a full report plus pictures and your views in your new-look Southern Reporter. It seems it really is easier to pick up, harder to put down!
