A new £1.23million project to support victims of domestic abuse won a national award last Friday.

The multi-agency Borders Pathway Project, launched in December, created three new services to help women and children.

And last Friday it won the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities (CoSLA) Excellence Award in the service innovation and improvement category.

Scottish Borders Council leader David Parker said: “We’re delighted this innovative project has won a CoSLA Excellence Award.

“I would like to thank all of the council and partners’ staff who have developed, and are delivering, these new services.”

The new help includes three-month assistance through Domestic Abuse Advocacy Support (DAAS), Children 1st Domestic Abuse, which provides longer-term practical and emotional support, and the Children Experiencing Domestic Abuse Recovery (CEDAR) group work programme.
