POLICE have ruled out claims that a Peebles man who impaled himself on a fence had been stabbed.
The 28-year-old was injured after apparently running into the fence while reportedly drunk at 4.30am on Sunday morning in the Damcroft area of the town.
He went home but an ambulance was called at 10.40am. He was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with serious abdominal and foot wounds.
His condition was described as serious but not life threatening and the man received surgery on Tuesday.
