Supermarket giant Sainsbury’s has given more than £12,500 to community projects in and around Kelso.
The Kelso Community Grant Scheme is funded by Sainsbury’s as part of the deal with Scottish Borders Council to let it build its supermarket in the town
Kelso Chamber of Trade, the Border Curling Development Group, Sprouston Coronation Hall, and the Wauchope Hall, Yetholm, were all awarded £2,000.
Other beneficiaries were Floral Gateway Gathering (£1,750), Kelso Community Events (£1,541), Edenside Primary School Parent Council (£740) and Abbey Row Nursery (£499).
The scheme has £17,500 for 2013 and application forms are available from the library, the SBC contact centre in Woodmarket and the secretary of Kelso Community Council, George Young, at Rennie Welch in Shedden Park Road. The deadline is September 30.
