A woman who breached an ASBO (antisocial behaviour order) by approaching “an extremely vulnerable man” was sentenced to a 12-month community payback order, with a condition she completes 80 hours of unpaid work.
Carrie Cassie, 28, of Bannerfield Drive, Selkirk, admitted breaching an ASBO at an address in Galashiels on December 27. She also pleaded guilty to stealing clothing and a watch at Next, Galawater Retail Park; stealing alcohol at Aldi in King Street; and stealing a pair of earphones from the Pound Shop in Channel Street, all Galashiels, on the same date.
Depute procurator fiscal Tessa Bradley told how the man contacted police after Cassie and another person appeared at his front door.
When police spoke to Cassie later the same day, she was found with the stolen items.
Her lawyer, Robert More, said his client made full admissions about breaching the ASBO and thefts.
Sheriff Kevin Drummond warned Cassie: “Due to your continuing offending in the face of bail orders and an ASBO, and your continued shoplifting, you have brought yourself close to custody.”
