The String Jam Club’s stage is being thrown open to musicians everywhere who want to perform and share their music, at their Burns Night Bash in Gala’s Salmon Inn on Saturday, January 26.

“Undoubtedly one of our most popular nights of the whole year, the Burns Night Bash is a great opportunity for local musicians to come and play and have a good time,” organiser Allie Fox told us.

“Everyone will be a star for the night so please be there and take part in this magical musical marathon. Whether performing or just coming along to listen, you are very welcome. Such is the demand that performance spaces have nearly gone already, so if you want to play, get in touch now before you miss the boat.

She added: “Whatever style of music you play, whether you’re into jazz, folk, blues, or whether you are singer-songwriters performing original material or do covers, whoever you are, we want to hear you play, so come on down and enjoy the unique String Jam experience.

“Please note you don’t have to perform a Burns song, but it will be very welcome if you do. Toasting the haggis, piper and festive raffle, and the unforgettable unique rendition of Tam O’Shanter (complete with props) makes this a night to remember (not to mention the Lovehearts, and the lovely Kathy Stewart, who will be compering).

“The Burns Night Bash is a tribute to all the local musicians who have helped to create the enduring success of the String Jam Club ‘the Borders haven of acoustic music’ – now in its 16th year.

“Thanks to everyone who helps keep this ‘Borders musical treasure’ going, you are the life-blood of live music in the area, and without you, String Jam Club would not be the enduring success it has become.”

Doors open at 7.15pm, and the music starts 8pm. Admission is £8 to all on the door (which includes a haggis supper). Please note this is not a ticketed event.

String Jam Club meets once a month at the Salmon Inn on Bank Street in Galashiels, and is sponsored by Vixen Records, Sound Station Studio, Merlin Music and BCCA. Music starts at 8, and doors usually open from around 7.15.Visit www.facebook.com/stringjamclub for more information.
