A MOTORIST has admitted what was described as “typical boy racer behaviour” in Hawick’s Common Haugh car park.
Ryan Moore, 22, of Borthwick Mains Farm, Roberton, pleaded guilty to careless driving by causing the wheels of his car to spin and driving at speed.
Procurator fiscal Graham Fraser said an off-duty police officer witnessed the events at around 8.20pm on March 12. He described how Moore drove at speed out of the car park, causing the wheels to spin before re-entering it.
Mr Fraser added: “It was typical boy racer behaviour.”
Defending, Rory Bannerman admitted the farm worker was driving too fast. He said his client already had three penalty points and urged Sheriff Donald Corke not to impose nine penalty points as that would mean disqualification.
Sheriff Corke imposed seven penalty points, warning Moore that one more offence such as speeding would result in a ban.
In addition, Moore was fined £120.
