A HAWICK man who tried to sell two stolen chainsaws at the town’s Saturday market will be sentenced at Jedburgh Sheriff Court on January 11.
Thirty-year-old Martin Charlotte, of Melrose Court, was spotted by police officers demonstrating how the chainsaws worked and it came to light they had been stolen.
He appeared from custody at Jedburgh Sheriff Court where he admitted reset.
Defence lawyer Rory Bannerman said: “He saw the opportunity to make a few pounds, but chose the busiest place in Hawick.”
Sheriff Donald Corke deferred sentence until January 11 when Charlotte has other matters calling.
