THE Christmas meeting of Galashiels Clef Club was held on December 15 in the Lucy Sanderson Hall.
A club reviewer writes: “The festive programme was opened by Sue Wilson on piano, who played a selection of jazzy Christmas carols to great enjoyment. Charley Hutcheson followed on solo flute, with a debut performance of an etude by Wilhelm Popp.
“An etude is designed to test the student’s technique and this was executed with courage and aplomb by Charley. This was followed by a festive musical quiz delivered by quizmasters and piano duettists Margaret Lang and Linda Grey.
“The evening finished with a round of carols, accompanied by Sue Wilson on piano, Heidi Goodship on flute and multi-instrumentalist Charley Hutcheson on violin.
“The Clef Club wishes its members a happy new year and welcomes new members of any age who may wish to perform a short concert piece of music or song to a small, friendly audience. Please contact Elizabeth Fraser on 01896 752375 or visit the website.”
