GALASHIELS Academy have rearranged its Brewin Dolphin Scottish Schools Under 18 Plate quarter final with Linlithgow Academy for tomorrow.

The game will kick off at 3pm on Netherdale’s 3G pitch, having originally been due to take place on Saturday.

Galashiels Academy coach Neil Brown said: “It has been hard to arrange this fixture at this time of year because of the weather but boys are very keen to keep up momentum after a hard fought win away to North Berwick.

“A couple of boys are struggling with knocks but they should be fit for Wednesday.

“We also have been boosted by the fact that we have two extra players - Lachlan Johnston and Bruce Purves - now in the squad after they have had their 16th birthdays so are now able to play at under 18 level.

“It has been hard arranging fixtures in the cup this year due to weather and restrictions of taking senior pupils out of schools regularly.

“We have been asked to organise the next round of the cup within one week of winning our previous match - which is just not possible with the curriculum pressure on both staff and pupils, and also weather has not helped.

“As a school we are very excited about the prospect of reaching a final, and the boys have been showing an excellent attitude throughout.

“We have to thank (BSLT sports officer) Dougie Anderson for accommodating us on the 3G pitch.”

Other fixtures in the Scottish Schools competitions include Peebles High hosting Trinity Academy in the under 18 Bowl tournament (1.45pm kick off) on Monday and Selkirk High travelling west to play Argyll Schools in the under 16 Bowl quarter final on Saturday, 12noon kick off.
