THE work of local artists will adorn the new Margaret Kerr palliative care unit at Borders General Hospital.
Pieces from six Borders creatives and further afield were this week being installed in the £4.1million facility due to open in January.
Edinburgh-based landscape artist Kate Downie (pictured) is drawing with pastel direct onto the wall of the main entrance.
Innerleithen sculptor Angela Hunter has created two bronze lambs and Jedburgh artist Clair Norris’ mosaic wall panel brightens a day room. Work by John Berry, based at Selkirk’s Wasps Studio, can be seen in one of the unit’s lounges, while glass artists Keiko Mukaide from Edinburgh, and Annika Sandstrom and David Kaplan from Selkirk have also contributed.
NHS Borders plan to hold open days at the unit for the public and staff next Friday (December 14) and the following Thursday (December 20).
