A BORDERS charity is celebrating after raising enough money to buy a better respite care caravan.

Borders Asperger aAnd Autism Group Support (BAAGS) has upgraded its “carer-van” at Berwick-upon-Tweed after supporters raised more than £12,000 in 19 months.

BAAGS chairman Derek Purvis said: “Thank you so much to everyone who has supported those many events, who have given not only their money, but their time, their facilities, their energies and their skills.

“The new van has double glazing, central heating, window locks, full-size fridge and freezer, outside light – as well as offering a wee bit more luxury seating, an extra toilet and more cupboard space in all areas. We are sure the families who use our carer-van will be even more impressed with the comfort and efficiency we are offering them.”

The eight-berth caravan is at Berwick Holiday Park in Berwick upon Tweed and is available for short breaks or respite and holidays at a reduced cost.

For further information visit www.baags.co.uk or contact Mr Purvis on 01896 668961.
