SELKIRK hairdresser Phemie Beattie is one of 50 hopefuls competing in The Model of the Year finals in Norwich tomorrow night.
The competition, now in its third year, is run by model and actress Kerri Parker, who owns the UK’s largest model training school where Phemie has trained at several day-long tutorials.
The 28-year-old of Haining Park told the Wee Paper: “This is going to be the big one for me, there are quite a few people taking part and it’s going to be online: it’s nerve-wracking but in a good way.”
From an initial 1,000 entrants, the final 50 are competing to win a £5,000 trip to Hollywood where they will be signed by an agent.
Competitors are being asked to model as if going to a red carpet event, there will also be a glamorous sports round, a Hollywood poolside swimwear round and evening wear section. And during the weekend there will also be Hollywood-themed photoshoots when competitors will be dressed and made up as their favourite Hollywood film stars or characters. Phemie will be Charlize Theron in the J’Adore advert.
Phemie said: “My ambition is to see how far it could go and if I do get any jobs through modelling just to go for it!”
The Model of the Year final will be streamed live at 8pm at www.epic-tv.com/watch.
